Production Diary 6th December

In this lesson I started to create my contents page on Quark express I will also being using this program for my double pages spread. I set up a page with 3 collums and on facing pages. I firstly set up the template for my contents page I did the by putting 3 picture boxes where I wanted them to be and then starting writing up the content of my contents page.

In this lesson I decided which image I was going to use as my main image on my front cover I tried different images to see which would work and it seemed that none of them would work for some reason on another so I am going to do another photoshoot to try and get better images.

In the lesson I decided that I want to put a background on my front cover I did this by using the gradient tool and using the different filter effects I experiemented with this a lot and changed the colours of what I wanted the background

Production Diary: 30th November

In this double lesson I put all the text that was needed on my magazine cover. This included all of the coverlines date and issue month and also a bar code. I then positioned all the text to where I want them to be for my magazine cover and also created a red strip for the bottom of my magazine to add effect. The positioning of my text on the front cover may change when the main image is put onto the magazine cover.

Production diary: 29th November

I started to create my music magazine front cover on Adobe Photoshop, in this lesson I created the canvas for my magazine cover and also created my title for the magazine and the style of the title. As my title has to be a unique font and style to any other text on the front cover I decided to put a bevel and a glow on the title.

Strengths and weakness of my products and media skills

What new media technologies I used to construct my products

They new technologies i used where Adobe Photoshop and Quark Express i used photoshop to create my school magazine cover i did this by importing my main image onto a canvas and then writing  all my cover lines on it. The only tool I used on photoshop where the text tool to create my front cover. The other new technology I used was a program called Quark express to create my contents page this is a program which is used in the professional industry. The tools i used on Quark was the picture tool and the text tool the page a produced was set up into 3 columns. Another new piece of media I used was the digital cameras which were used to take the pictures.

To create my magazine cover used adobe Photoshop  I made a few changes to my sketch as that i changed the positioning of the main image by that it was a lot bigger and more central. I also moved the issue date information to just below the title so that the title could be on its own. But everything else was very similar to my sketch that I made.

To create my contents page I used a program called Quark express i sent my page up in to 3 columns with the writing on  the left hand side taking up two columns. The difference from my sketch was that in one of my pictures i had 3 people holding there results up but in my final piece I only had one person other than that it was very similar. I didn't Photoshop and of the images used on my contents page.

Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photgraph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their graps of DTP.

Main task: the front page,contents and double page Spread of a new music magazine.

All images and text used must be original, produced by the candidate(s), minimum of four images per candidate.
